Start Reading with the Spring Reading Thing!

My daughter brought this book challenge to my attention.  I thought it was a great idea and wanted to share it with you.  This will be the first time I have taken part in a book challenge and am  really looking forward to it.  I am hoping it will help  motivate me to get some books off of the “to read list” and onto the “have read list”

The books I hope to read during this challenge are:

Purging Your House, Pruning Your Family Tree by Perry Stone

Other than reading these books I hope to be able to clean out the stack of “to look at” magazines that seem to be piling up everywhere.

Goals for 2009

Yes, I know the year has just barely begun and I am already running behind - but I will not give up!! After reading Amber's blog (Humble Reflections) I thought the idea of goals for the upcoming year versus resolutions was great so I made a list of my own and thought I would share them with you.
-increase the length of my quiet time and studying God's word each day.
-tithe on a more consistent basis
-begin exercising
-spend more time doing the things I like (scrapbooking, crafts, reading)
-paint and redecorate my bedroom
-continue to clean out and orgainize the "stuff" in my home
-set up a household cleaning schedule
-blog at least once a week
-read more books that will help me to grow spiritually
-find a church home and become involved
-spend more time in the yard with Luke this summer
-have "date nights" with Luke at least once a month
-finish school and begin working as a medical transcriptionist
-spend more time listing things on EBay
-keep up with receipts and tax info each month so it is not such a chore at the end of the year.
-be more of a help to my mom, step-dad and brother; spend more "fun" time with mom
-give blood at least twice this year
-keep a journal of family events and daily happenings
-finish Treyton's "grandparent" book
-keep in touch with old friends and my brother in Florida on a more regular basis
-make some new christian friends
-spend more time just enjoying being with my grandchildren
-seriously work on becoming financially free
-have all my pictures orgainized by the end of the year
Well, that's it - seems awful ambitious now that I have listed it all but hopefully if I just keep working at it I will be able to acommplish it all!

Verses for 2009

I wanted to get this blog started at the beginning of the year and while I am running a few days behind schedule am still excited to get it up and running.
I ask God to give me a verse for this year; a theme so to speak from Him. The following verses are what I feel like He gave me.

"For I know the plans I have for you , declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will by found by you, declares the Lord . . ." Jeremiah 29:11-14a

God, first brought this verse to my attention back in November, I feel like God is really speaking to me and encouraging me through this verse and as I continue on my journey with Him I will stand upon this verse.

The next verses I feel He gave me is more my hope, my request to Him.

"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me." Psalm 51:1-3

"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me." Psalm 51: 10-12

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." Psalm 51:17
